Most of the beaches
on the North Cornwall coast around Padstow are good for surfing or boogie
boarding. Constantine Bay - beware this is potentially dangerous in some areas due to rocky sections and rip tides. Beginners might avoid this or at least strictly confine surfing to the area designated by the lifeguards. Harlyn Bay - generally good north facing surf beach and home to a surf school. Other surfing beaches near to Padstow include Porthcothan Bay, Treyarnon Bay, Boobys Bay, and Trevone Bay. Beginners should be very careful and we recommend getting expert advice before attempting surfing - it is potentially dangerous. We would advise all but the most experienced surfers to only surf when lifeguards are patrolling the beach and never to surf alone. You can get more information about surfing, including web cams of several beaches along the coast towards Newquay by visiting www.britsurf.co.uk Newquay, which is a little way along the coast, is perhaps the spiritual home of British surfing and the British Surfing Association is located in the town. It has a large number of surfing beaches including Fistral which is probably the most famous surfing beach in Britain. British Surfing Association, Headland Road, Newquay. Tel 01637 850737 |
